Civil Registration Indexes

Civil Registration was introduced in England and Wales in 1837. Use these indexes to discover basic information about births, marriages and deaths. You can then use this info to order the birth, marriage or death record on the General Register Office website.

England and Wales Parish Registers

We have a range of parish records for England and Wales, including those which fall under the established church (Church of England and Church in Wales), in addition to Catholic parish registers and non-conformist registers. These records cover baptisms, marriages and burials from the 1500s until the 20th century and are generally organised by county.
