I am researching the Routh Family from Hemingbrough/Yorkshire/england
My father has a Family Bible handed down to him from his father. The first name in the bible is my great great grandfather Joseph Routh CIRCA 1820 married to Mary Anne also called Nancy Fairweather.
I belive Joseph was the son of Thomas Routh and Rosanna.
I would love to share information with any one else resaerching this branch of the Routh family.

I just happened to click on your query (I haven't looked closely at others), but I have a booklet entitled "A Short History of the Family of Routh," compiled by Lt. Col. H.C. Edric Routh, R.A. (retired) and published in 1953. It gives a pedigree from roughly 1066 A.D. to the middle of this century, and York figures in it. I am pursuing my own line (from Gervais or Gervase of Pollington, through Launcelot Routh, b. 1739), but send me an e-mail to remind me and I'll look for your line.

I have had a death in the family and can't do anything immediately, but will do so later.

Best wishes

I am sorry to hear you have lost a family member.

Thankyou for your reply to my query.

The Routh Branch I am looking for Thomas Routh who married Rosanna ? (could be Taylor). From Hemingbrough. They had nine children. The youngest being Robert Talor Routh who went to Canada in 1839, at the age of 14yrs. I would like to know if he went with his brother Thomas, and what became of Thomas.
I am also looking for the parents of Thomas (married to Rosanna.) Robert Taylor Rouths parents
Thomas and Rosanna married in 1807.
I have two leads. Edward who married Anne Gleadle and John Routh who married Anne Whittal. Both had sons named Thomas, both lived in Hemingbrough, and both sons were born about the same time.1785 - 1791.

My mother's mother was Ada Louise Routh. Ada's father was Lancelot Routh, b. 1852, d. 1928. Lancelot's father was John Routh, b. Oct 18, 1831; d. Feb. 13, 1905; John's father was William Routh, b. May 16, 1776. William's father was Lancelot Routh, b. 1739. Lancelot's father was Gervais of Pollington, I believe. According to A Short History of the Family of Routh, there are a major and a minor branch of the Routh family associated with the area called Pollington, but I haven't been able to make a connection.

I don't think that this tree helps you, but if you can make a connection with the Routh family in Britain, this book may be helpful to you.

Let me know if you think there's anything more I can tell you.

You left this message so long ago that you might not be interested now. I strongly believe that Nancy and mary were sisters (Fairweather). I also beleieve that it was against the law for a woman to marry her dead sisters husband. I have Nancy as mother to 7 children of Joseph and Mary as mother to one.
