Robert Trewhella b 1836, Cornwall (maybe Zennor), emigrated Sicily

I'm trying to trace Robert Trewhella born 1836 Cornwall. It is the same Trehwella has Matthew Trewhella meeting the mermaid as represented in the church in Zennor.

He emigrated to Sicily, had a son Alfred Percy Trewhella, and maybe another called William.

I'm not sure if they he was born in Zennor as I've not been able to find much any Trewhellas living there at that time. Could they possibly from Towednack at that point ?

Does anyone know any more about him ?

Best Regards and Thanks
Harry

I think I've managed to trace Robert to being born in Ludgvan around 1829/1830 to Robert &
ary Trewhella
He appears to have a brother called John aswell.

However, does any one know of these?
Thanks

The Times has the death of a son of Robert, Charles Robert, aged 28, in Rome, on the 8th Mar 1893. Robert Trewhella is listed as 'of Catania, Sicily'

His death is also recorded, 6 Feb 1909, of Catalina, aged 79.

http://www.dkinst-rom.dk/protcem/ - this cemetery includes several Trewhellas. Robert, his son Charles Robert, possible brother of Robert John (of Penzance), John's wife Anna Maria, son of John and Anna Maria, John Thrupp Trewhella, Gerald, the child of Alfred Percy, who died in an earthquake, and a Flora Claire, who died young in 1922.

Incidentally I think this is him and his brother John on the 1871 census, obviously back visiting friends and family:

Many thanks are in order, that's great detective work and puts me to shame.

I'd managed to find the links to Protestant Cemetary entry (amazing archival work) and also the entries in the 1871 census for Robert & John (definitely them as they founded the Sicilian railways company), but had not found the later details of John's wife returning.

Also thinking about the dates of Charles Robert, I'd initially discarded him as a son of the Robert i'm interested in as I thought the brother to Alfred Percy was called William, but I know that the brother died young, and this would fit in well.

Also Re Thrupp, I think Anna Maria may have been a Thrupp, this would be a guess obviously, but maybe the initial T in annie's name would be Thrupp ?

VERY much appreciated, very many Thanks.

I know there's a link with Trewhellas with Russia aswell, I think one of my Trewhella grandfather's or their brothers went to Russia to help the Tsar/Emperor with either his forrest or Steel, although I can't remember which and haven't found anything about yet

Thanks
Harry

I have online access to it through my university, but I don't think you can get individual subscriptions (it would probably be very expensive, in any case - the publishers are http://www.galegroup.com/ )

There wasn't any more information than I've given you in the death notices - attached (hopefully it'll work) is an image with the notices for Charles Robert and Robert snipped out and underneath each the reference.

Hi Jenna

Many thanks for that, extremely kind.

I managed to actually get free access to galegroup through my University aswell, although we don't officially have an account with them, they very kindly set me up a trial for a few days.

They actually have a free trial week going on for National Library Week at the moment, this only goes on until the 16th April though :

Thanks!
