Madge Edna Stoness, daughter of Jabez and Mahala Knight Stoness married my grandfather, Walter J. Zapf, Sr. of New York State in 1918. They had one daughter, Irene Stoness Zapf. Madge, I understand, died from complications of a stroke suffered in Saginaw, MI. Irene Stoness Zapf married Taylor Lyman and they had two children, Gerald Lyman (who lives in California) and Madge, who lives in England. Walter J. Zapf, Sr. then married (in 1930) Kathleen M. Welch of Mechanicsville, NY (who is my grandmother). Gerry and Madge would have cousins if Maud married and had children prior to her death. Information would be welcome.

Hi Hilda:
I am descended through a John Forsythe who came from Ireland & settled in Kingston, Ont. for awhile before moving on to Polk Co., Minnesota, where he died in 1907. He married a Hannah Moore. Just out of curiousity, since you are a Moore & you're looking for Forsythe, could we be related?
Let me know,
Laura

Hi Laura

I don't think we are related. There were other Forsyth(e)s in Kingston long before my ancestors and the Moore family was not from the same area.

Happy hunting

Hilda

Robert had stores and a stagecoach line and on the path of the stagecoach he owned property along it and he owned the property to keep fresh horses there rather than keep them at other peoples places. My great-grandfather ran the stage coach for awhile until he came to Alberta to homestead. He told a lot of stories. They were a fairly wealthy family. My great-grandfather had racehorses up here for awhile. My mom remembers one horse named Girly that ran in Calgary that was kinda ornery and he had a hard time finding a jockey for her but she was a pretty good runner.
