Howard Hochhauser was named President & CEO of Ancestry, the global leader in family history and consumer genomics, in February 2025. Howard joined Ancestry in 2009 as Chief Financial Officer and in February 2012 added the position of Chief Operating Officer. Howard also served as interim CEO of Ancestry from October 2017 to May 2018 while the Board conducted a comprehensive search for a permanent CEO. 


During his tenure, Howard has helped lead the company’s initial 2009 public offering, its go-private transaction in 2012, multiple acquisitions and all of its public equity and debt financings. He was part of the team that has grown the company from approximately $200 million in revenue in 2008, to more than $1.3 billion in revenue in 2024, a compound annual growth rate of 12.5. 


Prior to joining Ancestry, Howard served as Chief Financial Officer of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, and earlier in his career was a Vice President of Equity Research at Bear Stearns & Co. and a Staff Accountant at KPMG Peat Marwick.

Drawing from over two decades of experience across technology, retail, fashion, and sports at companies like Google, Under Armour, Gap Inc., and Prada, Attica brings a unique global perspective to the Ancestry mission. Her journey has shaped her belief that the most impactful marketing happens when brands authentically connect with people's core values.

She leads with a people-centered approach, believing innovation happens when teams feel empowered to push creative boundaries while staying focused on customer needs.

As a global citizen who has lived in Tokyo, Milan, New York, and San Francisco, Attica values diverse perspectives just as she values diverse family stories. With degrees from Columbia University and UCLA, she applies her expertise both at Ancestry and as a Board Member at Brilliant Earth.

With over 20 years of HR leadership experience across high tech, healthcare, and medical devices, Shane is passionate about fostering high-performance cultures in rapidly growing companies. At Omniture, he played a pivotal role in global expansion, M&A, and the company’s multi-billion-dollar acquisition by Adobe.                                      

Seeking broader industry experience, Shane joined Edwards Lifesciences in 2011, where he led key initiatives that fueled over 100% year-over-year growth at the Utah site. In 2013, he brought his expertise to Domo, helping shape the company’s talent and culture during a period of exponential growth, while also serving as a product evangelist.               

In 2019, Shane transitioned to Banjo, where he guided the startup through a phase of rapid, organic expansion, implementing scalable programs that accelerated the company’s impact in its market while preserving the core culture. By 2020, Shane’s journey led him to Ancestry, where he initially focused on Talent Management and Development, and later took on leadership of the global People & Places function, driving the company’s next chapter.        

A Utah native and proud contributor to Silicon Slopes, Shane holds a master’s degree from the University of Utah and lives in South Jordan with his wife and four children.

Julie Miller joined Ancestry® in August 2019. As senior vice president, Chief Communications & Community Engagement Officer, Julie is a member of the Ancestry executive team leading Member Services, Global Communications and Ancestry ProGenealogists, the company’s professional family history research division. She is a seasoned global leader with a track record of success building brands and strengthening corporate reputation to accelerate growth. Prior to joining Ancestry, Julie served as vice president of Corporate Communications at Intuit, Inc. and has held multiple leadership roles in consumer, healthcare and technology companies including Anacomp, Inc. and Sharp Healthcare Systems. Julie holds a bachelor’s degree in Communications from the University of California, San Diego and an MBA from San Diego State University.

As the Managing Director, International Marketing & Growth, Sue Moncur brings 25 years of marketing and media expertise to lead Ancestry's international marketing efforts. She believes in the power of personal discovery and is passionate about creating meaningful connections between Ancestry's products and the diverse motivations that inspire people to explore their family history.

To inspire millions of customers worldwide to begin their journey of discovery, Sue oversees award-winning marketing teams in the UK, Australia, and Canada while developing strategies for emerging markets. Her comprehensive role spans commercial responsibility, brand building, and portfolio management, always with a focus on understanding the highly personal reasons people engage with Ancestry.

Since joining Ancestry 15 years ago as a Retention Marketing Manager, Sue has risen to her current position by mastering the unique challenge of marketing a product that fulfills a natural human curiosity while addressing deeply personal motivations. Her team drives innovation through cultural understanding, data-driven insights, and creative solutions that challenge marketing norms. With a background in media agencies and an IDM Diploma in Marketing, Sue approaches each day excited by the opportunity to help customers discover something new about themselves and their families.

Chris Nielsen joined Ancestry in August 2025 as Chief Financial Officer, bringing over two decades of expertise in financial strategy, capital markets, and scaling technology companies. His proven leadership in driving transformational growth and building high-performing teams positions him to guide Ancestry's continued expansion and strategic initiatives.

Prior to joining Ancestry, Chris served as Chief Financial Officer at Redfin Corporation for twelve years, scaling the company’s operations and leading the company through its initial public offering, public company execution, and eventual acquisition by Rocket Companies.

Before Redfin, Chris held senior finance and operations roles at Amazon, including Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer at Zappos following its acquisition. He also served as Vice President of Amazon's Home and Garden category. Earlier in his career, he gained valuable consulting experience at Bain & Company and Accenture.

Chris holds an undergraduate degree from Stanford University and an M.B.A. from the MIT Sloan School of Management.

Ben Kozik has served as Ancestry’s Chief Legal Officer since October 2025, bringing deep expertise in complex strategic transactions, public and private capital markets, and a wide range of regulatory and governance issues impacting growing technology companies. Ben previously served as Ancestry’s Associate General Counsel for four years, during which he managed Ancestry’s corporate governance and compliance, M&A, capital markets transactions, global risk management, and commercial contracting.

Prior to joining Ancestry, Ben spent nine years at Ropes & Gray LLP, one of the nation’s premiere law firms, where he specialized in representing public and private equity-owned technology and consumer brand companies in a variety of transactions and governance matters.

Ben holds an undergraduate degree from Tulane University and a J.D. from the University of California, Bekeley.

Sriram Thiagarajan serves as Ancestry’s Chief Technology Officer and Executive Vice President of Product & Technology. Sriram is a seasoned, growth minded technology executive and thought leader with 30 years of experience at public, venture and private equity backed companies, where he has helped scale several B2B and B2C businesses. In his current role, Sriram is responsible for ensuring Ancestry’s customers have a delightful product experience powered by innovative technologies. Sriram leads the overall vision, strategy, and execution for all aspects of Ancestry’s product, engineering and technology development including data science, AI/ML services, product and business analytics, platform services, cloud operations, cyber security, corporate infrastructure, and business systems. Sriram joined Ancestry in 2017 as Senior Vice President & Chief Information Officer, and in December 2019 added the position of SVP Platforms to evolve Ancestry’s digital transformation efforts, before taking on an expanded role as Chief Technology Officer and Executive Vice President of Product & Technology in November 2020.

Prior to Ancestry, Sriram served as SVP & Chief Information Officer at Infoblox, where he was responsible for Global Information Technology and Cybersecurity and spearheaded its digital transformation efforts. Before Infoblox, Sriram was the Global Head of IT & Corporate Engineering at Twitter, where he helped architect and scale corporate infrastructure, enterprise systems, integrations with ad serving platforms, revenue, and billing systems to prepare the company for its IPO. Prior to Twitter, as VP of eCommerce & Corporate Systems at Yahoo, Sriram led its monetization of paid subscription services offerings, and managed product, engineering & operations teams in addition to the corporate IT systems organization. Earlier in his career, Sriram held leadership roles at Verisign and Ernst & Young. Sriram holds a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Florida Atlantic University, FL. and a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics & Communications Engineering from Anna University, India.

Debora is a data science and engineering leader with 20+ years of experience in data science and AI and 15 years of experience managing cross-functional teams of data engineers, research engineers, data scientists, and analysts.At Ancestry, she oversees multiple teams that focus on AI, data governance and quality, and product analytics, and is focused on using data to deliver the best experience to our Ancestry customers.

Debora wants to ensure we are bringing the most helpful insights to our users that can open up new and unearthed family history discoveries. She hopes people will get comfortable using AI in their everyday lives because of the value that it can bring.

Debora is a native Italian and recently discovered that she has descendants of Albanian royalty who founded the city of Falconara Albanese in Italy.

Jenna Lang brings over two decades of genomic science expertise to lead Ancestry's DNA Science team, where she transforms complex genetic data into meaningful personal discoveries. With a career spanning from the Human Genome Project to microbiome research, she believes that DNA holds the key to uncovering the hidden relationships that illuminate both our past and present identities.

To help customers discover their unique family stories, Jenna leads a team of talented scientists and engineers developing the algorithms and scientific models that power AncestryDNA's intuitive customer experiences. She creates an environment where innovation thrives, leveraging Ancestry's unparalleled genetic network of tens of millions of customers globally, over half of whom have created family trees on the platform.

Before joining Ancestry, Jenna earned her PhD in Microbial Bioinformatics from UC Davis, developed microbiome-based products at startups, and enabled Life Sciences organizations to analyze genomes at scale in the cloud at AWS. Her interdisciplinary approach has earned her invitations to advise NASA on three occasions, including a scientific research project conducted aboard the International Space Station in 2014.

Yoshi's fascination with technology and human connection drives his work as Vice President of Product Management at Ancestry. When customers discover something unexpected about their family history through tools his team has built, that's when he feels the true impact of his work.

With a diverse background spanning AI, fintech, and consumer technology at companies like Intuit, OCBC Bank, and Motorola, Yoshi now leads Ancestry's family history product team with a mission to help people uncover, preserve, and share their family stories in meaningful ways. Leveraging key technologies across AI/ML, cloud, and mobile his team creates innovative solutions that power new discoveries for Ancestry customers.

What gets Yoshi out of bed each morning is the opportunity to solve customer problems through innovation. He works closely with cross-functional teams to develop solutions that make genealogical research more accessible and personalized.

As a Georgia Tech graduate with degrees in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA, Yoshi approaches product development with both technical precision and creative vision. Stories that once took days to research now unfold in minutes. It’s Jennifer’s job to surface the power of Ancestry® for television programming, public relations campaigns, and media outlets.

On a personal note, Jennifer has had the pleasure of tracing her interests in publishing, reading, and music to not-so-distant relatives. And by learning more about the adversity some of her ancestors faced, Jennifer is able to draw strength and resolve to achieve her own goals. Lisa Glover-Gardin

Lisa joined Ancestry as Vice President, Associate General Counsel, Privacy and Product, bringing extensive expertise in global privacy strategy, regulatory compliance, and product counsel to guide Ancestry's privacy initiatives and support the company's product innovation.

Prior to joining Ancestry, Lisa served as Global Head of Privacy Legal at PayPal, where she led the company's privacy strategy across international markets and managed critical operations during COVID-19. She successfully navigated complex regulatory environments and built scalable privacy frameworks for a global financial technology platform.

Before PayPal, Lisa held senior privacy roles at Google and Meta's Reality Labs, where she focused on implementing privacy-by-design practices, managing vendor risk, and engaging with regulators to launch consumer products globally. Her work included managing consent decree compliance and ensuring products met rigorous international privacy standards.

Lisa earned her law degrees from Santa Clara University and UC Berkeley School of Law.

Mark Thompson - Chairman of the Board

Sir Mark Thompson became Chairman and CEO of CNN on October 9, 2023. Mark is also the Chairman of Ancestry; Deputy Chair of the Royal Shakespeare Company and Co-Chair of the International Fund for Public Interest Media, a new global fund to support journalists around the world. Mark stepped down as President and CEO of The New York Times Company in the summer of 2020 after an eight-year tenure (2012-20) during which he led the transformation of the 170-year-old news brand into a digital powerhouse. Digital subscribers jumped to nearly 6 million, up from half a million when he joined. NYTCo stock quintupled in value during his period as CEO. Sir Mark’s appointment at The New York Times Company followed an eight-year term (2004-12) as Director General (Editor-in-Chief and Chief Executive) of the BBC. As well as guiding the BBC’s coverage of the global financial crisis and the 2012 London Olympic Games, he is credited with major advances in the BBC’s digital offering and digital audience reach, including the successful launch of the BBC’s iPlayer, one of the world’s first streaming services from a major broadcaster (2007). He joined the BBC from Channel 4 where he was Chief Executive from 2002 to 2004. Before Channel 4 he held a series of senior posts at the BBC including Editor of The Nine O’clock News and Panorama, Controller of BBC Two and Director of Television. His book, “Enough Said: What’s Gone Wrong with the Language of Politics?” was published in the UK and US in September 2016. He was born in London in 1957 and was educated at Stonyhurst College and Merton College Oxford. He is an honorary fellow of Merton College Oxford and a member of the American Philosophical Society. He is married and has three children. His main home is in New York City. He was knighted for services to Media in the King’s Birthday Honours June 2023.

Gene Alston

Gene is a seasoned business leader with over 25 years of operating experience in high-growth, disruptive internet companies. Previously, Gene Alston was the Vice President of Commerce Business and Operations at Meta (Facebook). In this role, Gene was responsible for all strategy and teams for commerce products across Meta’s family of apps, revenue, and client satisfaction globally.

Before leading commerce at Meta, he led global marketing partnerships, enabling over half of Meta’s advertising revenue through strategic programs, client engineering, and technology partnerships. Prior to Meta, Gene was at Pinterest, Groupon, and PayPal, where he led teams responsible for product management, go-to-market, acquisitions, operations, and international expansion. Gene holds several patents in the payments and offers space from his work at Groupon.

Gene is a member of the California State Bar and National Association of Corporate Directors and serves on the Anderson School of Management’s Easton Center Board at UCLA. Gene holds a BS from the University of Washington, a Master of Information & Data Science from UC Berkeley, and a JD/MBA from UCLA. Before attending UCLA, Gene was a Naval Officer stationed on the USS Worden. He’s also a very proud dad of three children and lives in the Bay Area with his wife.

Sachin Bavishi

Sachin Bavishi is a Senior Managing Director and Head of the San Francisco team within Blackstone’s Private Equity Group. Mr. Bavishi currently focuses on new investment opportunities in Technology, Media & Telecom (TMT). Since joining Blackstone in 2013, he has been involved in the execution of the firm’s investments in Ancestry, Bumble, Catalent, Ipreo, Kronos, Liftoff, Performance Food Group, Pinnacle Foods, Refinitiv, Rover, SESAC, Simpli.fi, Tradeweb, Trilliant Food & Nutrition, Ultimate Software, and Vungle. He currently serves as a Director of Ancestry, Liftoff/Vungle, Rover, and Simpli.fi.

Prior to joining Blackstone, Mr. Bavishi was an Associate at Olympus Partners where he evaluated and executed private equity investments across industries. Prior to that, he worked in investment banking at Piper Jaffray in the Healthcare Group.

Mr. Bavishi earned a BS in Electrical Engineering from The University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he graduated with Highest Distinction (Top 5%), and an MBA from The Wharton School at The University of Pennsylvania, where he graduated as a Palmer Scholar.

Jody Gerson

Jody Gerson is Chairman and CEO of Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG) and a member of Universal Music Group’s Executive Management Board. Since joining UMPG in 2015 and becoming the first female Chairman of a global music company and the first woman to lead a major music publisher, Gerson has transformed the company into a global powerhouse with over 850 employees in 48 offices across 40 countries. Under her leadership, UMPG has tripled its annual revenue to over $2 billion, significantly increasing profits and expanding its catalog to more than 5 million copyrights.

A respected creative leader, Gerson has signed and worked with some of the world’s most influential artists, including Adele, Bad Bunny, Billie Eilish, Coldplay, Drake, Elton John, H.E.R., Kendrick Lamar, Taylor Swift, and The Weeknd. She also led landmark catalog acquisitions for artists such as Bob Dylan, Neil Diamond, and Sting, among others.

Gerson champions women in the music industry and advocates for education. She co-founded the nonprofit She Is The Music and serves on the boards of the USC Annenberg Inclusion Initiative, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, the National Music Publishers Association, Project Healthy Minds, and the New Roads School..

Her industry accolades include Billboard’s Executive of the Year, the Recording Academy’s Grammy Salute to Industry Icons, and Variety’s Hitmakers Executive of the Year. She also oversees Polygram Entertainment, UMG’s film and TV division.

Before joining Universal Music, Gerson was Co-President of Sony/ATV Music Publishing and was previously part of the senior management team at EMI Music Publishing.

David Kestnbaum

David Kestnbaum is a Senior Managing Director in the Private Equity Group. He currently leads investments in the Media & Entertainment, Consumer, and Business Services sectors.

Mr. Kestnbaum has led or been involved in Blackstone’s current investments in Ancestry, Candle Media, Encore, Merlin Entertainments, PSSI, SERVPRO, and SESAC, as well as prior investments in Alight Solutions, AlliedBarton, AVINTIV, Cloverleaf Cold Storage, and DJO Global.

Before joining Blackstone in 2013, Mr. Kestnbaum was with Vestar Capital Partners and previously JPMorgan’s Financial Sponsor Group.Mr. Kestnbaum holds a BA in Political Science from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is currently a Director of Ancestry, Candle Media, Encore, SERVPRO, and SESAC. He is also a member of the Choate Rosemary Hall Alumni Association Executive Committee and previously represented Blackstone as a Partnership for New York City Rockefeller Fellow.

Alex Moskowitz

Alex Moskowitz is a Managing Director in the Direct Investments Group for GIC’s Private Equity arm. Before joining GIC in 2008, Mr. Moskowitz was an associate at CIVC Partners and an analyst at William Blair & Company. He has board responsibilities for several GIC portfolio companies, including HUB International Limited, Medline, and UKG. Mr. Moskowitz earned an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and a BA in Economics, magna cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania.

Tim Sullivan

Tim Sullivan joined Ancestry in 2005 as CEO of the company. In his 12 years leading the company, Ancestry became the leader in online family history and AncestryDNA was introduced, becoming the world’s largest consumer DNA testing service. After his time as CEO, Tim served as Chairman of the Board for Ancestry and has served as a board member since 2022. Prior to joining Ancestry, Tim served as President and CEO of Match.com, and held multiple other leadership roles at companies including Ticketmaster Online-Citysearch and the Walt Disney Company. Tim has an MBA from Harvard Business School and was a Morehead Scholar at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He currently sits on the board of AllTrails, chairs the Board of Trustees for the Morehead Cain Foundation, and serves as a vice president of the Board of Trustees for the Hotchkiss School. He is a former board member of Live Nation Entertainment.
