About Mühldorf am Inn, Germany, Index Cards, 1201-1928

About this collection

This collection contains index cards to archival records from Mühldorf am Inn covering the years 1201 up to and including 1928. This city is located in a district of the same name about 31 miles south of Landshut and some 50 miles east of Munich. It is situated on a bend of the River Inn in Oberbayern, Bavaria. Mühldorf am Inn first became a city in 1239. Until 1802 it was an enclave of the Archbishopric of Salzburg. Throughout the Middle Ages it was an important commercial center. The long eventful history of this city has been preserved in extensive archive materials.

Index cards were created as reference aids to the materials. They index persons mentioned in the various archives and summarize the most important information from the original records. The index cards are generally chronological and organized first into year ranges, and then alphabetically by the first letter of the last name.

What you can find in the records

The index cards are typewritten and may contain the following information:

  • Last Name and Given Names of the person indexed
  • Cross reference to the original record often including the title and call number
  • Year, Month and Day of an event (ex. Birth, Marriage, Death, Degree, Property or Business Ownership),
  • Occupation, Employment, Social Standing

More about using this collection

Each image displays one index card. Under "Browse this collection” on the search page, you can select the relevant year range. Multiple events may often be found on a single card. Usually, the first event date on a card is the one considered when assigning the card to a year range. Note also that, the first event date is the only date displayed in the Search results list.
