Halifax, Yorkshire Baptisms, 1538-1593

This database contains a portion of the Halifax, Yorkshire, parish register. This portion includes baptisms occurring in the parish from December 1538 to December 30, 1593. There are no entries from February 4, 1565/6 to April 24, 1566, but the register appeared to be intact to the compiler, which implies that entries are not missing. A few pages containing records from July 5 to August 7, 1535, and August to September 1593, were torn out. Besides these few missing records, this collection appears to be complete. Baptismal records generally list the date of the baptism, the name of the child being baptized, and the name of the father. Parish records can be wonderful sources of genealogical information. They become increasingly valuable when civil vital records are either inaccessible or nonexistent.
