About York, Yorkshire, England, St. Michael le Belfrey Parish Register, 1565-1653

The parish of St. Michael le Belfrey is located in the City of York next to York Minster. This database contains the parish registers of St. Michael le Belfrey from 1565 to 1653. The parish registers are comprised of all the baptisms, marriages, and burials that occurred within the parish. Baptismal records generally at least list the date of the baptism, the name of the child being baptized, and the name of the father. Marriage records generally list the date of the marriage and the bride's and groom's names. Burial records generally list the date of the burial and the name of the deceased individual. Sometimes these records will contain other pieces of information as well. Parish records can be wonderful sources of genealogical information. They become increasingly valuable when civil vital records are either inaccessible or nonexistent.
