About History of the Isle of Man, Volume I-II

This database recounts the history of the Isle of Man, which is located in the Irish Sea between Ireland and the United Kingdom. The author attempted to trace, in detail, the history of the island from the earliest period up to modern times. In so doing he produced two volumes. Volume I begins with the earliest inhabitants, moving into the Celtic period, and from there continues on through the ages before ending in 1765. Volume II begins in 1765 and continues until the present time, or the time of publishing, which was 1900. Also included in this database are lists of kings, lords, bishops, and governors with their year of rule or time of position and a map of the island. Understanding the history of an area is an important part of genealogical work. Therefore, this database could be very beneficial to researchers of the Isle of Man and other areas of the British Isles.
