About UK, Holocaust Records from the British Federation of University Women, 1938-1951 (USHMM)
The British Federation of University Women was founded in 1907 to support educational opportunities for women. This collection is an index to the records of the organization during and after World War II, when it provided aid to Jewish and other foreign refugees. In it are minutes of meetings where you’ll find accountings of funds allocated to individuals and to specific relief projects, progress reports, lists of applicants seeking aid or employment, lists of children, employment of foreign doctors, and requests for food and clothing. The original documents are held by the British Federal of Women Graduates.
The index to the minutes, correspondence, and aid applications will vary in content depending on the type or record, but you may find the subject’s name, document date, type of document, age, religion, previous residence, arrival date, reason for business, and the meeting location and date.
