U.S., Navy Cruise Books, 1918-2009

Navy cruise books are yearbook-style books assembled by volunteers on board ship to commemorate a deployment. They usually include portraits of the sailors, officers, and other personnel aboard, accompanied by the individual’s surname and naval rate. Portraits are generally organized alphabetically by surname within each division or department. Other features may include candid photographs of crew members at work and recreation, details and history of the ship, and short biographies on captains, commanders, and other prominent officers.
