This name has been in Ireland since 1302 when John le Ussher was constable of Dublin Castle and has sometimes been used as an equivalent of Hesson . Jewish (from Poland and Ukraine): from a southern Yiddish pronunciation of the Yiddish male personal name Osher (Hebrew Asher ).
