Swedish (Sandö): ornamental adoption of 1. Japanese: it is unclear whether instances of this name in America are Sando, usually written with characters meaning ‘three doors’, or Sando, written with various characters, possible meanings being ‘three wisteria’ or ‘east of the mountains’. None of these are common in Japan.
