Italian (southern Sardinia): topographic name or nickname from Sardinian mura ‘mulberry’ or ‘blackberry’. Catalan: habitational name from Mura in Barcelona. Czech and Slovak: from Muric, a personal name equivalent to Maurice (see Morris).
