Leifeste Name Meaning
North German or Dutch: probably from a topographic name, Leinfest or Leinfeste, derived from late Middle Low German leine ‘grazing land with wide ditches’ + veste ‘administrative district’, hence a name for a farmer who farmed an area of low-lying land or who was entrusted with maintaining the ditches in a district.
