Korfhage Name Meaning

German: probably an occupational name for a peddler who carried his wares in a basket, from Low German Korf ‘basket’ + Hake ‘huckster’, or a topographic name for someone living near a woven fence, from Hag ‘hedge’, ‘fence’, ‘enclosure’. Dutch: from a builder’s term for the basket frame (literally ‘basket hedge’) used to hold hardcore in front of breastworks.
