Albanian: from the personal name Kasë (definite form Kasa) an old vernacular short form of Latin Cassianus (see Cassano ) and a short form of the Albanian Muslim personal name Kasëm (see Qasim ). This surname is found mainly in the central part of Albania but also in Kosovo. Ethiopian: variant of Kassa . — Note: Since Ethiopians do not have hereditary surnames this name was registered as such only after immigration of its bearers to the US.
