Burich Name Meaning

Czech (Buric) and Slovak (Buric): nickname from buric ‘rebel’. Americanized spelling of Serbian and Croatian Buric, a patronymic of uncertain origin. In Serbia it is probably from a descriptive nickname based on bur ‘dark brownish gray’. In the mountains of Croatia, it is more probably a shepherd’s nickname from Rumanian bur ‘good’. On the Dalmatian coast it is thought to be from a nickname given to children ‘blown in by the north wind’, i.e. born when the north wind called the bura was blowing. German: variant of German Burisch, from a derivative of the Slavic personal name Bureslav.
