from Aldington (Worcs) which is recorded as Aldintona in 1086 and Aldington in 1227 and perhaps also from Aldington (Kent) which is recorded as Ealdintune in about 1090 and Aldyngtone in 1253– The place-names probably both mean ‘farmstead associated with a man called Ealda’ from the Old English personal name Ealda + the connective particle -ing- + tūn ‘farmstead estate’.
