  • This popular collection now spans over 100 years of births from across the state.

• Orleans Parish, Louisiana, U.S., Marriage Records, 1870-1974 (new collection)

  • New lists from 19 National Archives and Record Administration (NARA) collections, primarily from the New England area.

• Maine, U.S., Employment Records, 1823-1932 (new collection)

  • These include business licenses and related documents—for people to serve as city auctioneers, musical groups who had performances scheduled, permission for the sale of "spirituous liquors," and sheep marks.

• Maine, U.S., State and City Institutions Records, 1832-1927 (new collection)

Military

• Bangor, Maine, U.S., World War I Albums, 1914-1918 (new collection)

  • Contains portrait photographs of soldiers, brief biographies, and lists of local residents who died in the war.

• Maine, U.S., Civil War Records, 1862-1866 (new collection)

  • The collection contains a variety of records, including an index of those who volunteered for service in a Maine regiment, documents related to bounties paid to volunteers, and applications for aid from families of war veterans.

Directories & Member Lists

• Bangor, Maine, U.S., Bangor Hotel Visitor Log 1838-1841 (new collection)

  • These records list people who visited the Penobscot Exchange Coffee House, which was part of the hotel.

  • This collection consists mainly of documents related to the financing of the Jewish cooperatives and of Jewish craftsmen.

Census & Voter Lists

Both of the following collections include women who were eligible to vote in local elections. Women over the age 30 were not able to vote in parliamentary elections until 1918. Not until 1928 were women over the age of 21 able to vote in parliamentary elections.

• Wiltshire, England, Electoral Registers, 1832-1975 (new collection)

  • This ceremonial county is known for Stonehenge, the medieval cathedral in Salisbury, British Army training grounds, and part of the Cotswolds region.

• Monmouthshire, Wales, Electoral Registers, 1832-1969 (updated collection)

  • The collection now includes electoral registers from 1970-1975.

• 1939 England and Wales Register (new records added*)

  • These records may include the name of the occupier (i.e., renter), the name of the land's owner, and the parish where the property was located. You may also find a detailed description of the property.

  • Broken Hill, founded in the 1880s, started as a mining boomtown and continues to be Australia's longest-running mining town.

• Broken Hill, New South Wales, Australia, Mining and Rate Ledgers, 1884-1937 (new collection)

  • Most of the records are tax rate books, but the collection also has records for rent payments, land transactions, horse ownership, and accidents that occurred in the local mines.

Pictures

• Broken Hill, New South Wales, Australia, Historic Images, 1891-1950 (new collection)

  • These photographs, taken during the peak of this mining boomtown city, range from solo portraits to groups from community organizations, such as churches and sports clubs, plus images from specific mining sites.
