Harry Sidney Morchower

Morchower, HARRY SIDNEY, 78, passed away Friday, May 6, 2005, in Dallas, Texas. He was born September 17, 1926, in Newark, New Jersey to Henry and Rose (Fruhman) Morchower. Harry, graduated from Highland Park High School in 1946 and SMU in 1949. After serving in the Navy during WW II, he and his late brother, Earl Morchower, founded Dallas Handbag Company in 1950. His work was his passion. "Mr. Harry," as he was known to both customers and employees, was a pioneer in the handbag and accessory industry, holding board positions with several associations. He was a member of Congregation Shearith Israel since 1949 and served on the board of directors for several years. Harry cherished life. When asked "How are you?", he always responded "fantastic". His family enjoyed cruises, and vacations to Galveston and Las Vegas. He loved deep sea fishing and gardening. He was larger than life. His influence was long lasting. He never quit. His greatest gift to us was laughter. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and loyal friend to many. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Dr. Barbara (Phelps) Morchower of Dallas, his "devoted and complete love"; sister, Blanche Liebenson of Dallas; daughter Shelley Rosenfeld of Dallas; son Scott Morchower and wife Lisa of Atlanta, GA; son Barry Morchower of Dallas; son Brian Morchower of Port Aransas, TX; son Glenn Morchower and wife Carolyn of North Hollywood, CA; 7grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. The family wishes to express its deepest gratitude to loving care givers Carmen Ocampo and Tai Hazoume and other care givers. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the charity of your choice.
