Much as I appreciate the appearance of the British Army WWI Pension Records, did anyone check the spellings?

Denbigshire / Denby (should be Denbighshire)

Shrapshire / Shropham (should be Shropshire and can we standardise on either Shropshire or Salop please?)

Glammorgan (should be Glamorgan)

Cark (should be Cork)

and on, and on, and on, .....

More offshore outsourcing I assume?

I can certainly believe the outsourcing of indexing when I see a census index that says the person was born in Germany when the census has ga for Georgia.

I despair finding some of my relatives from Switzerland ..... many are indexed as Sweden and the best ..... SWAZILAND .... in late 1800's early 1900's Pennsylvania.

My newest favorite from yesterday in 1930 Census, Reading,PA

Peter Jakofcich born in Yugoslavia , Boarder with
Joseph Streblar from Guyana.

He should be easy to spot:

a white man from Guyana , in Reading, PA in 1930.

The picture is as clear as can be. Who ever indexed Yugoslavia into Guyana made a special effort !!!!!

It really is ridiculous and there seems to be no place to post a correction for this. Correction for names yes, even if very slow, but places--no.

I posted the original message in the hope that Ancestry might intervene and make corrections before they pulish the records for surnames from C to Z. Am I expecting too much???
Lists of the counties of England, Scotland and Wales (with the correct spellings!) are available everwhere on the Internet, including Ancestry's own site!!! Were the transcribers of these pension records not given a copy of the these lists for cross-reference???

Somerset used to turn up as an anachronistic Somalia thousands of times - at a time Somaliland was the name of the Somalia of today.

steady nagging got thousands of those errors eliminated over 2 or 3 years
