I know your post is old, but hopefully you are still around. I have looked for Enochs civil war records but have not found them as of yet. I have 2 Enochs in my tree, so this interests me as well. If you have any other questions about his family let me know, I will try to help

Enoch Diffee was also my great-great-grandfather. Has anyone found or identified any Civil War records for him? I would be surprised to learn he wasn't in the Army of Tennessee considering he would have been in his late teens during the war and was 20 by the end in 1865, though TN was pretty much out of it by late 1864. Also, has anyone come across any American Revolution docs on Enoch's forebears, i.e., William Sr. (1710-1790), William Jr. (1732-1790), or John Sr. (1764-1835)? I am a direct male line of William Diffee Sr., through Enoch Diffee -John Jefferson Diffee (1867-1946), --Clyde Diffee (1899-1959), ---James Ronald Diffee (1944-1982). James was my biological father, but I was then adopted and my last name was changed. I know members of my Diffee family, though, including my uncle, John (older brother of James).

Hi, Doug!

Based on your info here, I'm looking now to see where Enoch fits in to my tree, since I have some information to add about him now.

I found this regarding his Civil War Service, and as a POW:
http://boards.ancestrylibrary.com/topics.Military.united-20-...

There's a John Diffie, age 25, a few lines up from E Diffee, age 19, as well. I just found this and haven't looked in to it any further yet.

I also found confirmation of William's (1788-1858) father, John (1764-1835), serving in the Revolution, here:
http://revwarapps.org/#DI http://revwarapps.org/r2949.pdf

My grandmother, Jean Diffee, dedicated the last few decades of her life to family history. She was the wife of Vernon Roy Diffee, son of Jasper Neal, son of Jonathon Thompson, son of Jonathon, son of Corneilus, son of John, son of William Jr, son of William Sr (b apx 1710, Ireland).

She didn't get any further back than Wm. Sr. It seems that no one else has yet, either.

With the work she's already done, I've just been working on inputting and confirming her research, and adding to it where I can. I have a book of my direct lineage in my maternal grandparents' families but my mother has all the rest of my grandmother's research, including photos and negatives. Once I finish up some projects around my house, I'll be spending some time helping my mom to get alllll of that stuff organized (during which time I'll be scanning everything I can!) and unpacked after her recent move. ... Maybe I'll have more to share in the next few months.

Since I don't have a paid subscription here right now, I can't send new direct messages. My email address is smmalles(at)gmail(dot)com

I hope this was helpful and would love to trade info! :c)

All the best,
Shaunna
