George C. STIDGER married in 1879 in Tuscarawas Co., OH. to Luemma I. "Emma" MEARS who was born 1858.
Do not think he is connected very closely to the George STIDGER of Stark Co. OH.
Would appreciate any information on this family.

My pedigree chart shows George C. Stidger b between 1839-1842, son of Oliver Perry Stidger and Elisa Haun. Oliver Perry was a descendant of General George Stidger of Baltimore. However, I have no information on your George's marriage or issue. Could this be the one you are looking for. A marriage in 1879 is possible, that would make him about 38-40. I would be happy to share what information I have if you think it is the same line.

Thanks for responding. Was your Geo. STIDGER located in Stark Co. or Tuscarawas Co. at any time, do you know?
The only inform. I have is his name and who he married and when. I had received inform. earlier on another Geo. STIDGER who had been prominent in Stark Co. but unable to make the connection.

My ancestor is Dr. George Stidger born 10/30/1805 in Jefferson County, Ohio and died in Keosauqua, Iowa 3/30/1864. He married Mary Ann Baker on 10/15/1829. There is also a George Stidger, son of Oliver, born between 1839-1840 married to Elizabeth Williams, and George Stidger b 1860 md to Helena A. Dorr. I thought that George (son of Oliver) was born in California, but left to go back to Ohio after trying to find gold with his father. The other George (son of John), owned land in Iowa, but do not know where he was born. I am working on this one, as his grandfather and my great grandfather were brothers. George (son of Oliver), is a direct descendant of General George Stidger, who was the son of Jacob and the brother of my great great great grandfather.(whew!) Many in the family were from, or settled in Stark County.
Let me know if anything fits with your information, I have a lot of data, not all of it put together. Would love to go over this further with you.

The George C. STIDGER that I am searching for married 5 Apr. 1879 in Tuscarawas Co. to Luemma I. "Emma" MEARS who was b. 20 Jul 1858 in Perry Twp., Tusc. Co. I would presume Geo. would have been fairly close in age to Emma within reason. I did receive a message some time ago from a Dennis STARK who mentioned a General Geo. STIDGER who had married a relative of his by the name of Mary REILLY and all of their children probably stayed in Stark County, OH.
Apparently the name George was used quite extensively in the STIDGER family.
This is all I know.

George C. STIDGER who married Emma Mears 1879 (Tuscarawas Co. OH)may have been the George C. STIDGER shown as a "manufacturer of marble, living in Carroll Co. OH 1885" Source: MERCANTILE AGENCY REFERENCE BOOK (R. G. Dun Co. NY) published in OHIO CROSSROADS Vol. XXXV #4 issue.
Don't know if these two Geo. Stidgers are same or not.
My George Stidger was born 1818 Jefferson Co. OH; died Aug 1875 in Meigs Co. OH. I've not been able to find names of his parents.
