Mollie S. Wamboldt


Mollie Schnell Wamboldt, 86, of Mitchell, Neb., died Dec. 20 at the Mitchell Care

She was born Oct. 16, 1917, at Melbeta, Neb., to G. Henry and Kathryn Margaret
(Schanaman) Schnell. She was the sixth of their sixteen children. She grew up in the
Melbeta and Minatare area and received her education at North and South Highland
Schools. She was confirmed at the Lutheran Church in Minatare in 1932.

She was united in marriage to Carl Wamboldt on Dec. 19, 1937 at Gering, Neb. They
farmed in the Gering and Scottsbluff area, as well as in Goshen County, WY, until they
purchased their farm in Sioux County, Neb., in 1955.

She was a homemaker and assisted many families in Torrington and Henry, Neb., from
1964 until she retired in 1987. She moved to Henry in 1983, and lived there until moving
to Mitchell Care Center in August 2000.

She was a member of the Henry United Methodist Church and United Methodist
Women, serving as secretary for several years. She also served on various committees
of the church. She taught Sunday school for many years, beginning with 3 year-olds and
eventually teaching every age group, including adults. She loved attending the ladies
Bible study in Henry and helping to serve dinners and receptions. She was a charter
member of the Henry Highlighters Extension Club and was involved in many community

She is survived by her children, Carl H. Wamboldt of Cheyenne, Carolyn King of
Ashland, Neb., Edith Selby of Casper, and Damaris Lewis of Mitchell; sisters, Pauline
Siembab of Daggett, Calif., and Clara Drake of Kanab, Utah; seven grandchildren and
four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Fred Schnell, and sisters,
Katherine Prester, Mary Britthouer, Lela Feagler, Willamina Gleason, Amelia Ireland,
Eve Duchaine, Anna Draves, Lydia Ferraris, Rose Loose, and Freida Cler, an infant
sister and infant brother.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in
Scottsbluff with Pastors Charles Murithi and Don Stephens officiating.

Interment was in East Lawn Cemetery in Minatare.
