Oscar Lund, my grandfather, died sometime in the 1970's in an unknown county in Arizona. He may have died in Tuscon, Arizona, but we are not certain. Also, not sure of his date of birth, but we think he might have been over ninety years old when he passed away. He was born in Sweden. He married Laura Belle Briggs in Minnesota on June 24, 1907 They lived in Minnesota, Nebraska,California and the state of Washington.

Carol Tikka’s posting at Douglas County, Nebraska message board on April 26th, 1998 is repeated here to assist researchers:

“Searching for information on the Oscar Lund family who lived in Douglas County, city of Omaha in 1915. Oscar Lund and his wife Laura Belle Lund had three children, Timothy, Donald and Charles. Oscar Lund was my grandfather. On his son Charles' birth certificate of 1915, Oscar's occupation while living in Nebraska, is listed as cement worker. He later built houses in California and Washington state. He died somewhere in Arizona at an unknown date.”

In an email received today, May 25th, 2005 Carol Tikka writes to Glen F. Pritchett:

Thank you for searching for Oscar Lund. According to the Census, he emigrated to the US in 1891/1892 and was naturalized in 1899. He was a cement finisher and later built homes.

As far as I know Oscar Bernard Lund was not a relative. The other Oscar Lund you mentioned died at a much earlier date. Grandfather Lund was living in Vancouver, WA and left around 1942 after his wife Laura died. Two of his sons, Charles and Donald also left soon after; Charles to New Mexico and Donald to Arizona. That is all the information I have. I have found bits and pieces on on Oscar, but nothing on his death.

Thank you for your help,

Carol Tikka”

Hi Carol - Thank you for your kind words. I'll keep looking in Maricopa County for Oscar and also for his brother Donald.

Best wishes and good hunting.

Hi Carol - I have found three Donald LUND's in Maricopa County. Whether any of these three are the son of Oscar LUND cannot be immediately determined. Here is some information for your review:

Donald True LUND died on March 25th, 2003 in Mesa. He was 91. His obituary was published in the Arizona Republic, Section B, page 7, on March 28th, 2003. Another obituary was published in the East Valley Tribune which includes Mesa residents.

Donald T.'s SSDI record shows that he obtained his SSN in Utah (UT) which would have been sometime after 1936. His DOB is shown as August 17th, 1911. A copy of his SS application can be purchased from the SSA for $27 which might contain useful genealogical information if you think this was a son of Oscar. His address at the time of his death was 1452 South Ellsworth Road, Mesa, 85208-3700, 480-984-7728. I have done a cross directory search on this address and found that it was shared with 957 other persons suggesting this was some sort of retirement facility.

Also living in Mesa is a Donald and Lorrayne LUND. I found no other details about this couple. Another party is Donald W. and Mary C. LUND, again with few details. Both of these I have phone numbers for if you wish to invest a dime and phone them to see if you might get lucky. The numbers are:

Donald and Lorrayne: 480-380-9316

Donald and Mary: 623-875-0857

You could also try phoning the deceased Donald T.'s number, perhaps a relative is still using the location or number.

All these phone numbers are as of 2002 listings.

This concludes my resources. Hopefully something will develop for you.
