I am searching for the parents or origin of Jose Luis Lobato and Mariana Garcia. It is believed tha Luis was a soldier in the Spanish Militia in Santa Fe.

They were married on Aug. 10, 1791 in Santa Fe. He died Aug. 25, 1851, and Mariana died on April 9, 1830. I would appreciate any information regarding this couple. I whould like to hear from anyone who decends from them.

My ancestor was Margarita Lobato who married Antonio Jose Apodaca 25 Oct 1782 in Santa Fe. A much later record states her parents were Vicente Lobato and Ana Maria Sena. I have not found these names in any other records. Have you ever run across this couple in your Lobato research?

I cannot recall seeing any records in the late 1700s for Margarita Lobato and her husband. I'll keep the names in mind for my next search in the Santa Fe records.

Hello Herman,
I have a Jose Luis and a Mariana in my family it is through the same way as Ysidro is. I found a lot of information on the Lobato side and also on the Garcia side. It is a lot of information and If you would like it please contact me. I don't have that much on the Valencia side except for Ysidro, that is as far as I got. I hope to see a message from you soon.
Thank you

Primo, Good to hear from you and that you're still researching. I would indeed like more information on the Lobato's and Garcia's. The only thing I have on Jose Luis is that he was a spanish soldier. Married on Aug.10,1791 and died Aug.25, 1851. Juan de Dios Valencia, Juan Diego, and Rafael Valencia were brothers married to three Lobato sisters. Your Valencia relationship is through Juan de Dios and mine from Rafael. I will send more info to your E:mail address.

Juan Diego Valencia was not a brother of Juan de Dios and Rafael, but their uncle. He was a brother of Fancisco Antonio Valencia. Therefore, The uncle, Juan de Dios, and Rafael were married to the three Lobato sisters.

My great-great grandmother is Lorenza Valencia. Her grandparents might be Luis Lobato and Maria Anna Garcia. I don't have any dates and I am just guessing. I thought it was worth a posting.

I actually went to the LDS or Morman church here in WA and ordered registries of new mexico births and deaths, recieved some films of old record of birth certificates and baptismals. I believe I found a Vicente Lobato and thought it might be my great grandfather but will have to go back and check it. They were all in Spanish and very old and hard to see. My grandfather was born in 1870's Francisco Lobato a very large tall man only one picture my Uncle Raymond has of him. My dad was small. There were 4 brothers and one sister. Not sure if this will help at all, drop me an email maybe you have more info we could exchange. Lucy (Lobato) Birdsong
