This little genealogy novice feels quite proud of herself. After a few searches through kind friends at the Sussex Records Office I found out that I too am related to the infamous Thomas PLAYFORD ( 1690 ) of Tenterden Kent. Only I'm a bit more unique as most of the family are tracing roots from his son James PLAYFORD ( 1743 ) and his son Henry PLAYFORD and Sarah ( nee Goodsall/Goodsell) who set sale from Gravesend to Australia.

I descend as such

Thomas 1609 Wilby ( so far extensive re search for his parents can not be found in parish records )
Thomas 1738 Tenterden Kent
William 1782 Beckley Sussex
James 1813 Sedlescombe Sussex
Thomas 1852 Sedlescombe Sussex
Thomas 1889 Sedlescombe Sussex
Ronald 1913 Sedlescombe Sussex my grandfather

Pleased as punch!!!

Would love to share info - i have tons of it!! Aussie stuff too.

Hello. Ive just started researching the Playford's in my family tree through my grandfather JACK EDWARD PLAYFORD 1928. His parents were ERNEST EDWARD PLAYFORD 1904 and ISABELLA MATRHA BRANSON abt 1903. Ernest's parents were JABEZ ROOTES PLAYFORD and FLORENCE VIOLET PLAYFORD 1877. Jabez's parents were RICHARD PLAYFORD 1839 and LYDIA ROOTES 1877. Richard's prents were HENRY PLAYFORD 1790 and SARAH GOODSELL. Henry's parents were JAMES PLAYFORD 1743 and ELIZABETH MEDHURST 1744.
Would love to hear from those who are descendants of the above names.
Kylee :-)

Hi Kyle

I'm not a descendant to the above names but I am birth related.
James Playford 22 May 1743 is my 5 x grt Uncle. He's buried in the village of Beckley at All saints ( 7 Nov 1821 )

His parents Thomas Playford & Catherine Newman are obviously my 6 x Grt Grandparents.

For a long time now it's not been known who Thomas's parents were.
It's highly probable that he is the child of William Playford & Jane Willard.
There is a baptism for Thomas in 1703 in Benenden Kent - although speculation has lead to his birth year being 1690

Your Grt Grandfather Ernest Edward playford I have in my tree - my calculations are that he would be my 4th cousin 3 times removed =]

Pls feel free to e mail me if you'd care to share information on our playford families - I'd love to hear from you .
