I'm looking for decendents of Issac Ammon. He was born in Virginia 18 April 1817. He moved to Champaign County Ohio and married Sarah Pence on 1 August 1839. They had 2 children Issac and Mary. His wife died 8 June 1853. He then married Hannah Long 13 Oct 1853. She died a short while later. He married her sister Rebecca 13 March 1856.

I don't know if he had children by the last two wives.

He died 20 Dec 1891 and is buried in St Paris, Ohio in the Spring Grove cemetery.

I have 2 different stories on his father. I tend to believe that he was Peter Ammon of Rockingham Virginia, who married Elizabeth Rinehart but have no proof.

Any help that I can get would be greatly appreciated. My e-mail address is wilgin@bright.net

Thanks
Ginger

Ginger- I'm not certain if I sent you an e-mail. I want to respond and ask why you think we are related. I know that my third generation is from OH yet the Ammon line has been in the states for longer than that.

Wishing you the best.

Aimee,

I'm sorry, I guess I didn't give you any information about myself.

I have gone back to my fourth great grandparents. Peter Ammon and Elizabeth Rinehart were from Rockingham, Virginia.

I have proof of every generation except Peter and Elizabeth. I got an e-mail from a lady stating that they were the parents of Isaac but they don't give me their source.

I've spent over 4 years trying to find Isaac's parents and went down different roads. I have a lot of Ammon's in my files and am tryiing to put the pieces all together.

It seems that all of Peter's children were born in St. Peter's Parish, Rockingham, Virginia except Isaac and he was their 5th child of 7.

Isaac was born in 1817 his father,Peter ( if he is his father) was born in 1808. Isaac's family moved to Ohio in his early childhood, I can't find any information as to where his parents moved. I know that he lived his adult years in Champaign County, Ohio and died there but I can't find any information on as to where his family (mother, father, brothers or sisters)went.

I live about 50 miles from where he lived, died, and is buried. But still can't find any records on Peter. So there is my delema.

When you answered my inquiry a few weeks ago I thought that I might have another piece of the puzzle.

If any of this helps please let me know.

Thanks,
Ginger Holtkamp

I guess I am just trying to put the pieces all together and they just don't seem to fit. So I am looking for any scraps of information I can get.

I am trying to see if I have any information on August but haven't gotten through all of my info.

Ginger,

The blind might as well lead the blind!

Believe the Peter Ammon listed in the 1810 and 1820 Rockingham County census was the son of Christopher Ammon and Mary ? Peter was living next to Christopher in both censuses.

The 1820 census shows the following people in Peter's household:

1820 Rockingham County VA Federal Population Schedule VA

Household: 20
Ammon, Peter

Males under 10: 4
Males 25-45: 1
Females under 10: 1
Females 10-15: 1
Females 25-45: 1
Engaged in agriculture: 1

My interest is in tracing my ancestor, Mary Ammon. I have a copy of the bond for her marriage to Peter Kyger dated March 31, 1823 in Rockingham County, signed by Christopher Ammon.

Christopher Ammon wrote his will in 1830. It was recorded in 1842. Children named were Jacob, Mary and Elizabeth.

Christopher's wife, Mary, died December 22, 1818 and is buried in St. Peters Lutheran Cemetery, Elkton, Rockingham County, Virginia.

In addition to the (maybe) son, Peter, I BELIEVE Christopher had another son, Henry, who is listed in the 1830 Rockingham County census but who does not appear after that.

I have been able to track some of the descendants of the children named in the will in addition to my own line.

There were a number of Ammon's in Virginia who could have been Christopher's father.

Classification: Query
Surnames: Rinehart
I have the written history of who Elizabeth Rinehart married and that was John Price. Elizabeth was the Daughter of Jacob L.and Barbara (Runckle Rinehart). Jacob L. Rinehart. Jacob was the child of Leiws R. and Catherine Elizabeth (Walters) Rinehart. Lewis was a long time friend of Barabara Runckles father Peter Runckle. They lived in Rockingham County (Peter and Lewis) and served in Fraziers Company Militia during the Revolutionary War. Jacob and Barbara lived their entire lifes in Rockingham County Virginia and are buried there. There is also a Ludwig Rinehart in Shenandoah Valley that is said too have married a Catherine Valters in the same year as My 5th great grandfather Lewis R. Rinehart. This could also be true due there marriages took place in different states at the time. John Rinehart
