John C. Kluesner was born in Oldenburg, Germany 9on March 24, 1869. He was the son of Rev. Franc (Franz I thought, but obit says Franc) and Christine Kluesner, and the third in a family of 4 boys adn 6 girls. He came to the United States at the age of 19 and continued his education at Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio (I happen to have his graduation certificate and his final grade reports...in German for some reason, even though college is in Ohio!) where he became valedictorian of the class of 1892.
He was united in marriage to Augusta Geisert just fifty years ago last December. Their home was blessed with three daughters, Louise (our line), Margaret and Rosalie. The home became a center of a well-ordered Christian group under the guidance and direction of Christian parents.
John Kluesner was a member of the Ohio Conference of teh Methodist Church, and he held pastorates in a number of Michigan and Ohio charges, including Holt, Michigan, Elmore, New Knoxville, De Graff and Pomeroy, Ohio.
He was retired 11 years ago, and since then has made his home with his daughter, Mrs. William Reich at 11141 Union Ave. He continued to maintain a well-defined schedule of Bible study, educational reading, music and Christian service. He was an unusually thorough Bible student, and believed with heart and sould in the Bible as the divine and inspried Word of God. He enjoyed the handiwork of God and His manifestations in nature, and it was an inspiration to hear him revel in teh beauties of God's universe and God's Marvelous plan of Salvation through Jesus Christ. Many wonderful memories are cherished by his loving and devoted wife, Gustie, his daughters, Louise, Margaret of Cinncinati, Rosalie of Rochester, N.Y., their husbands, his nine grandchildren, especially Diane and Charlene Reich who grew up in the same home with their grandfather, three sisters who live in Germany, several nephews, one of whom, Theodore Bargmann, lives in Chicago, and a host of friends. In the words of the Apostle Paul, truly John Kluesner was "a workman who needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of Truth".
This obit is from a hand typed sheet that one of his children must have done for the newspapers or for his church. Anita, also on this Kluesner name search, is descended from Rosalie Kluesner, Rochester, NY.
