I am looking for all the help I can get
in the search for Duda's from Czechoslovakia.
My grandfather, Joseph Duda, born 11/8/1882
and died 12/62, was born in Austria (Bohemia),
his wife, Anna Jakes was born in Chicago in
1880 and died in 1959. My father, William J.
Duda was born in Chicago 9/28/1919. I have
a list of most of my descendants, but none of
my ancestors. Only my grandfather was born
in Bohemia and the rest in Chicago. As far
as I know the rest of the family was and
might still be in Czechoslovakia. Of my
grandfather and down, only myself and two
brothers are left. None of us can find
anyone beyond our grandparents, Joseph and
Anna. If these names are familiar to anyone,
please e-mail me with info. Thank you very
much. I'll also be happy to share what I
have.

My maiden name was Duda. My grandfather John Duda was we think from Czechoslavakia. They settled in Uniontown, Pa and came to Erie County, PA in 1914 or 1915. We do not have too much infro beyond that. My fathers name was Joe as well.
Not too much help but perhaps if I stumble on to something I will send it along.

Thanks for your reply. In my generation
and up to my grandfather there are no John's
or Grace's. What frustrates me is my family,
for some reason, wouldn't tell their kids
anything about their past. A lot of my aunts
and uncles died when I was very young and I
don't even know where they are buried. Now
I have to go to the Office of Vital Statistics
and try my luck out there. I was also told
to go to whichever libraries around here have
microfilm services. So I have at least some
ways to keep trying. I'll keep in touch and
let you know what I find. Again, thanks for
your message.

My great grandfather Matthew Duda had 2 brothers and 1 sister. Their names were Anton, Joseph and Mary. I got this information from my great Aunts. Now I am looking up the reason.

I didn't know to this time about ancestry web page. My name is Jaroslav Duda and I live in Piestany Slovakia, part of former Czechoslovakia. E-mail address is jaroslav.duda@sei.sk. All brothers and sisters of my grand father moved to US in early 1900, to this time I know just one branch in US, all others are missing and I have no information about descendants. If you know more details, please, let me know.

My mother's family name is Duda. Her father came from Poland around 1910, I believe. He and my grandmother, who came to the U.S. in 1911, settled first in New York, but moved to Uniontown, PA, a few years later. He had a cousin who lived there who helped him become a tool and die maker. Eventually, my grandparents and their eldest daughter, Carol, moved to Toledo. My grandfather, Frank Duda, also had an older brother named John Duda. (I get the feeling there are a lot of Frank and John Dudas in the world.) My mother has talked about taking family trips to Uniontown to visit relatives in the 1930s. Does any of this sound familiar?

Hi I do not know if I can be of help, but my wifes grandmother descends from Mary Duda who was born in Aug. 24, 1886 who immigrated to the USA in 1903 with 4 brothers and 2 sisters. They came from a village Huemene Mallakaminkaor, Czech. I think one of her brothers was Geroge James and a sister named Pauline, but unsure about this. Mary Duda married Stefan Vrabel oct 16, 1905 in New Castle, Penn. The family says the Duda name was "Guyuga" iin Czech. Does any of this information sound familiar? Email me at: bunting@online.no
