Looking for family tree prior to William A. Tarr who was born in 1880 and lived in Brooke county, WV all his life. He was my grandfather but I do not know who his father, siblings(?) were directly. I believe Peter Tarr of Iron Furnace fame is the same line. Thank you.

Have you checked the census records for your family. This is the easiest way to find families after the 1850 year. This is the first year that ALL members of families were listed in the census. I assume your near Wellsburg from your "address" go to thre library in Wellsburg, they have microfilm of the census for several years available for your use. You might be interested in the Brooke County Genealogy group, we meet 3rd Sat of each month, there at the library.

L2-1Mary Ann Crawford was born circa 1822, Brooke Co. She married Andrew Jackson Tarr, son of Peter and Mary ³Polly² Tarr. Peter Tarr ran the Tarr Furnace in Hancock Co. One of their sons, Andrew Jackson Tarr was born on 11 January 1816. Mary Ann (Crawford) Tarr, died in 1893. A.J. died in 1895. They along with their family were buried in the Three Springs Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Together they had the following children, to wit:

L2-1a Mary M. Tarr 1846

L2-1b John Crawford Tarr 1847 1930

L2-1c Agnes L. Tarr 1849 1921

L2-1d Peter T. Tarr 25 January 1850 13 October 1913

L2-1e Mason Tarr 1852 1929

L2-1f Casper Tarr 1854

L2-1g Wylie Tarr 1858 1919

L2-1h Campbell Tarr 1860 1935

L2-1i Sarah Tarr 1864 1923

L2-1j William Tarr 1866 1873

Do you think there might be a connection here? I don't know the names of other children of Peter and Mary "Polly" Tarr. Perhaps your William Tarr is descended through one of their other children.

I would like to know if you know anything about other TARR descendants from the group mentioned above. I am working on this Andrew Jackson Tarr group, from above.

Hope to make contact with you, as your query is rather old at this point.
