I have information regarding Sycks. We may be related. Finding the Sycks family came from Greene County, PA.
My grandmother was a Sycks. Parents were Charles Wesley Sycks and Mary Ann McDonald. Can be contacted by email.

Hi Valerie. Thanks for the information you sent. Regarding your family reasearch, do you have anything indicating from which European country the Sycks family emigrated? Thanks.

Sorry for the long delay in responding, but I just figured out how to send e-mail via this this medium. As I indicated in my note to Cindi, my family came from Athens, Ohio and I'm wondering from which European country they emigrated.

Cindi has information that family may have originated from England in the 1850's. I have some other vague informtion that the Sycks name is German, but no tracing of my direct family to either England or Germany.

Haven't found any information as to our origins of the Sycks Surname, I believe you and Cindy and myself may be related cousins of some sorts. I've
traced the family back to Greene County Pennsylvania. My grandmother Effie Sycks Park grew up in New Lexington, Ohio. I believe that her father was one of
about 10 children. There is a relative in the Barberton Ohio area also, I don't know if he is still alive. But I had contact with them several years ago.
My great grandfather was Charles Wesley Sycks, father was Israel Sycks. My dad always thought the name was Dutch, but I have no clue where he got that
information from. Have there been any Sycks reunions? If so, let me know when it is. If not maybe we should start one.

Hi Lori. Howard was my uncle, brother of my father Robert E. Sycks. My goal is to find the country of origin of the Sycks name. So far, although I haven't been able to track specific ancesters, I have found the name Sycks going back to England and Germany. My best guess is that the Sycks name is German, but that's still to be determined. Best wishes.

Suzanne, I got your message, I believe my great-great grandparents were also from Greene County, PA. His name was Israel Sycks married to Emaline South, David and Israel could be brothers. Do you know David's parents name. What county is Salem Township in Ohio. Israel and family settled in Perry County. Have you come across any information about where the Sycks originated from. My dad was under the impression they were from Holland but unable to verify where they came from besides Pennsylvania.

David Sykes' parents were: Henry Sykes born 2/12/1757 and Barbara Selsor. Henry was born in Greene Co, PA . HIS father was John Conrad Sykes born in Chester Co, PA.

Salem Township is in Monroe County, Ohio and there is a Sykes Ridge and a Sykes Ridge Cemetery there as well as a Sykes Ridge Christian Church. At least there used to be.

I am going there next summer to do physical research on records that are unavailable any way else, and to take pictures of the cemetery.
