I am in the process of tracing the Slabaugh tree for my mother. All I presently know is that there were 2 brothers who came over from Germany and one spelled their name Slabaugh and the other Slaybaugh in order to tell the difference between the brothers. The one that I am tracing is without the "y". I am living in Missouri and my grandfather was borned in this state. I know his father's name was John and his mother's name was Frances (Whitworth) Slabaugh. I believe my grandfather's grandfather was Henry Slabuagh borned in Pennsylvania and his wife's name was Gertrude (don't know her maiden name). She was born in Ohio. Henry Slabaugh's parents were born in Pennsylvania and his wife, Gertrude's parents were born in New Jersey. If you have any information to help me trace back further than Henry please send me an email message. Thanks

Their first seven chhildren,Jacob through Henry were Christened in St. Lukes Evangelical Church at Schaefferstown. Becauses Henrys birth was the last recorded in the church the familymoved west to Fairfield County, Ohio some where between 1834 and 1840. Henry Slabaugh born May 10, 1832 married Gertrude Tunnison of Licking County, Ohio. This family reportedly moved to Walker Station, Texas about 1865. they had five children, John, Harry, Jano A., Clarence and Alice. I hope this helps you. Henry was a brother to Jonas from which my family is descended. Good Luck.

Mark,
Yes this is my family. Josephine is my great grandmother. There was a Hiram Slabaugh who lived in Columbus and was a harnessmaker. He is buried with his wife in one of the large mausoleums in Greenlawn Cemetery, Columbus, Franklin Co. OH. Do you have more info on the family? Do you have more info regarding Jacob and where the family came from? Sounds German. My email address is RickieBlas@aol.com
Thank you.

Yes, Jan, Samuel T. (1856) is my first cousin once removed. Samuel C. spelled his name with a "Y", but Samuel T. and his family show up without the "Y". I have a little data on Samuel T.'s two sons -- if you need help there. Mark
