All during my growing up years, I was told we were somehow related to George Wythe, signed of the Declaration of Independence. Over the years and of late, I learned that George Wythe was married twice and one child was produced during one of the marriages - a daughter who died as a child. He had a brother named Thomas and a sister named Anne. Thomas did not have any children but Anne did. She married a Charles Sweeney and they had at least one child - a son named Charles Wythe Sweeney. Personally I'm hoping they had more than one child because Charles W. Sweeney poisoned his uncle and two house servants. The only witness to the crime was a kitchen maid who could not testify. George Wythe did live another wk or two after being poisoned so wrote his nephew out of his will. The nephew had a gambling problem.
