Henry A. "Hank" Slubowski
Loving Husband, Father & Grandfather Henry A. "Hank" Slubowski, 86 of Millcreek Twp. died Sunday December 19, 2010 at St. Vincent Health Center. He was born in Erie February 14, 1924 son of the late John and Mary Kowalski Slubowski. Henry was a retired employee of American Meter. He was a member of Holy Trinity Church, where he was a member of the Usher's Society and a member of numerous social organizations. Henry was a devout Christian and found strength through Mass. He held a special devotion to the Blessed Mother. He gave tirelessly of his time, talent and treasure for the sake of others. He cherished the family unity through family gatherings. He was an accomplished saxophone player having his own band for 42 years. Proud of his Polish heritage, he enjoyed the ethnic cuisine and listening to a variety of Polish tunes. Dancing was something he rarely turned down. Besides being an avid reader and animal lover, he traveled extensively with his wife Nancy. He was preceded in death by his in-laws Anthony and Nettie Twaroski, his son, Joseph Slubowski, brothers; Casimir "Walter" Slubowski, and sister, Stella Jawarowski. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Nancy Twaroski Slubowski, children; David A. Slubowski of Fairview, Patricia Steinbrink and husband, Dr. William of Millcreek Twp., Kenneth Slubowski and wife, Audrey of Fairview, Michael Slubowski and wife, Robin of Erie, Marie Morris and husband, Paul of Millcreek Twp., John Slubowski and wife, Sharon of Millcreek, and Edward Slubowski and wife, Kathy of Millcreek, grandchildren; David, Jeffrey, Daniel, Julie and Robert Steinbrink, Angela and Rebecca Seib, Joseph and Luke Slubowski, Nicole and Mitchell Slubowski and Micki Loringer, great-grandchildren; Rachel and Derek Loringer, daughter-in-law, Monica Slubowski and sister-in-law, Margaret Slubowski. Friends may call at the Carl A. Slomski & Son Funeral Home Inc., 2101 Ash on Wednesday 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and may attend a service there Thursday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Trinity Church at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Members of the Holy Trinity Ushers will meet for a prayer service Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Holy Trinity Church or to the Barber National Institute.
