William (1809 TN) and Jane (Bell) Nivens (1816 TN) were my ancestors. William (1809 TN) was a son of Joseph (1775 NC) and grandson of John E. (1850 VA). The 1782 return of William Bell listed John Nevins with 200 acres of taxable property located in Southern Rowan County near Thyatira Church. John Nevins moved to Bourbon County, KY then to the East Fork Stone River, Davidson County, TN before 1800. Son Joseph (1775 NC) bought land on Noah's Fork, Bedford, TN in 1826. The censuses show Joseph in Rutherford (1810), Warren (1820), Bedford (1830)and Cannon (1840). William (1809 TN) bought land from John Bell in 1845 his interest in the estate of Thomas Bell. I have a copy of William's record of this transaction that he carried with him when he moved to Lawrence County, MO in 1853. William Nevins sold partials of land on Noah's Fork in 1849, 1850 and 1854. William was listed in Cannon County (1840) and Coffee County (1850). Joseph died in Cannon County before 1844.
William's son Isaac Nivens (1842 TN) was my ancestor and was the one that moved to Alvord, TX.
