A cousin & I had DNA testing. Both of us descended from a Luman Knapp & Anna ??? . Luman born in 1800 Connecticut & Anna born in 1802. They are listed in Lysander, Cicero, Onondaga County, NY 1820 census - it looks like they possibly married a couple months before the census.
Well, both of us are catching a lot of Conklin's as 4th & Distant cousins. There possible 4 reasons -
1) Conklin is a collateral name
2) Luman's father David Knapp from CT has Conklin heritage (Very Unlikely)
3) Luman's mother Sophia (Knapp) Knapp prob from CT has Conklin heritage
4) Anna ??? (wife of Luman) has Conklin heritage.
In the 1820 census for Cicero, Onondaga Co, NY, there is also a Phillip Conklin. Per a tree of his, he is married to a Halstead and there is a child born in 1801 and then another child born in 1805. Could my Anna be a child born in between those two children?
We have been looking for the wife of Luman Knapp, Anna's surname for over 20 years.
