The Gascoigne (Gaskill) family is an old (1100) gentry family from
Yorkshire. In my 1989 book I quoted from a book in the Library of
Congress "Gaskill's English and American Records" pg. 38. "Register of
Bapt. Edmund filius of Thomas Gaskill de UpHolland in New Gate, 6 June
1608" then I picked up Thomas s/John of Parlington as a POSSIBLE line.
The time and place was right. That line goes back to John- the father
of John, William, William 1474, John 1445, Nicholas, William, William.
Now ten years wiser, I want proof of the father of our Edward.

No one came over to the new world alone. All had friends or relatives.
Some of the leads are-
1. Richard Hollingsworth came with a wife and twelve others (all
accounted for) Edward worked in his shipyard until Hollingsworth died
them had his own shipyard. Could Sarah have been related?
2. Elder Wm. Brewster of Plymouth Colony had a Mary Wentworth as a wife.
Mary's mother was Grace Gascoigne. Grace's sister Alice married John
Newcomb. The Newcomb son was killed by Indians in Plymouth Colony. Two
decedents of a Gascoigne family. Is ours the same one? The two girls
father was John Gascoigne of Lasingcroft & Aberford 1557 & Ann Vavasour.
3. Gascoignes were landed gentry. Edward came as a ship carpenter.
Burks Landed Gentry, has a Joel Gascoigne of Kingston-on-Hull as a
captain and part owner of the Ship Hopewell of Kingston-on-Hull and
received letters of Marque. A ship owner and a ship carpenter.
4. Sarah Gaskill joined the First Church in Salem early on. Edward did
not join for ten years. The Gascoignes were strong Catholic & suffered
much for their faith. What was Edward doing in a Puritan settlement? I
am told that if a Gascoigne did something the family did not like, he
was taken off of their pedigree.
5. The Gascoignes that came into Virginia were from Kingston-on-Hull and
down from Nicholas Gascoigne.

I have a good many of the English Pedigrees. Just need to find the right
Edward and see that he did not die in England.

My line is Edward & Sarah, - Samuel & Provided Southwick, - both
brothers Edward & Hannah Endicott, & Josiah & Rebecca Lippincott, -
Edward's son Zorababel & Ann Lippincott - Josiah's son Jonathan & Jane
Shinn, - Zorababel's son Stephen married Jonathan's daughter Lavinah,-
Their son Zorrababel & Esther Blizzard - Stephen & Elizabeth Walker, -
William & Sophia Garrison,- John Q A & Mary E. Barrett - Laura M.
Gaskill, and I need all the help that I can come by.
