My grandmother did some research on the Chamblin side of her family in 1939. Don't know how it fits in with anyone--or if it is a new Chamblin line. The earliest known Chamblin ancestor in my family was George Chamblin, born 1775 in Shenandoah Valley, Virginia, where he also died in 1867. He married, but there is no record of his wife. We know of three sons, Elzy, born, 1800, Aaron, born, 1802, and Samuel, born, 1804. Aaron died in the Civil War in 1863, Samuel married, no record of wife, their children were Lillian, Richard, Samuel, Jr., Maria, Laura, George, Mary. Lillian married a man whose last name was Harrison. In 1939, they lived in Mercedes, Texas. Elzy married Deliah Nixon 1820. Their children were Hamilton, Elias, George, William, Elzy Jr., Rebeccah, Sarepta, Mary Ann, Emily and Delilah (twins), and Jane. These children were born between 1821 and 1841. Elzy and Delilah went by "prairie schooner" from Virginia to Stubenville, Ohio in 1830, In 1840, they again moved by prairie schooner to Illinois to a farm near Peoria. My Chamblin ancestor from these children was Hamilton who married Ann Janette Barnes, their son Calvin, was my great grandfather. My grandmother also ran across another line of Chamblins that we are related to who lived in St. Louis, Mo.
