When starting research in Switzerland, usually the best first step is to check the Register of Swiss Surnames (https://hls-dhs-dss.ch/famn/index.php?lg=e). This will tell you that Brauen have held citizenship in canton Bern in Golaten and Kallnach since before 1800. There is no guarantee that your ancestors were born in one of these two communities, but they are the best bet to start checking records. Church records of canton Bern (before 1875) are (with a few exceptions) online: http://www.query.sta.be.ch/archivplansuche.aspx?ID=37. For smaller communities you'll find on https://www.geneal-forum.com/phpbb/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=29... to which parish they belonged.
