Henry Ayres (b ca 1760) and Isabell Reid (CA 1763) married in Rockbridge county, VA, 20 Nov 1788. The bond was signed by Henry Ayres and John Standoff.

They are supposed parents of John Ayers, Henry Ayers Jr. and Margaret Peggy Ayres who married Andrew Lewis in Patrick county, VA and moved to Russell county, VA by 1830.

Our DNA from a Lewis ancestor born ca 1820 is matching many Lewis' in Russell and Patrick counties. We are also showing matches to Ayers in Rockbridge and Brown county, IN, leading me to believe that Andrew and Margaret are our John's parents. They had 2 boys in 1830 census who are of right age to be our John Lewis (and most likely his older brother William from Russell county). Andrew Lewis is rumored to be a son of Edward Lewis and Nancy Price of Patrick county. We DNA match many in that family.

I'd love to hear from anyone from Ayers/Ayres/Eyres/Reid/Reed related families. Our DNA on common matches seems to connect us to Ayers in Brown county, IN (with Virginia ancestry) as well as Ayres/Fink family in VA. Some related line may also be Redpath / Ridpath that goes back to Virginia. There are 30 or more DNA samples from various children of our John Henry Lewis on ancestry DNA. The relation is definitely on the Lewis side in our tree. Our John left Virginia in 1853 and all his children married unrelated families in Illinois, Missouri and Texas.

Thank you,
Yolanda Lewis
