Virginia didn't start to record births until about 1854 so that option is out.
I did find James and Amanda marriage record but it's an indexed record in FamilySearch. You have to go to a Family History Center to view the actual document.
The Library of Virginia, www.lva.virginia.gov/public/local/results_all.asp?CountyID=V...
also has marriage, wills/probate and many other records. You decide which reels you want to view and contact your local, public library to obtain that reel via nter-library transfer.
You might also find those records in FamilySearch, Catalog.
I'd take a look at the Chesterfield Historical Society of Virginia's web site, www.chesterfieldhistory.com/CHSVLiibrary.html
and contact them about what records they may have.
Ask them if they have a local death index, indexed newspaper death notices and cemetery inventories.
Chesterfield History, www.chesterfieldhistory.com/index2.html
is another resource.
You might have to consider DNA testing. Successful Searching!
