Where does the Cholmeley family appear on your tree?
James (1684-7 Oct 1735) was the son of Montagu Cholmeley and Katherine Booth of Easton in Lincolnshire. He married Katherine Woodfine on 1 Dec 1702. He moved to Barbados in about 1710 and was involved in sugar plantations (in conjunction with the Workman family) and other investments there. His 5th child Robert was born in Jamacia in 1711. Robert married Katherine Ann Maynard, the widow of Thomas Workman about 1759.The family had a presence in Barbados for a number of generations.
Robert's daughter Jane (abt 1745, 1836) was Jane Austen's aunt.
