Ginger,

The blind might as well lead the blind!

Believe the Peter Ammon listed in the 1810 and 1820 Rockingham County census was the son of Christopher Ammon and Mary ? Peter was living next to Christopher in both censuses.

The 1820 census shows the following people in Peter's household:

1820 Rockingham County VA Federal Population Schedule VA

Household: 20
Ammon, Peter

Males under 10: 4
Males 25-45: 1
Females under 10: 1
Females 10-15: 1
Females 25-45: 1
Engaged in agriculture: 1

My interest is in tracing my ancestor, Mary Ammon. I have a copy of the bond for her marriage to Peter Kyger dated March 31, 1823 in Rockingham County, signed by Christopher Ammon.

Christopher Ammon wrote his will in 1830. It was recorded in 1842. Children named were Jacob, Mary and Elizabeth.

Christopher's wife, Mary, died December 22, 1818 and is buried in St. Peters Lutheran Cemetery, Elkton, Rockingham County, Virginia.

In addition to the (maybe) son, Peter, I BELIEVE Christopher had another son, Henry, who is listed in the 1830 Rockingham County census but who does not appear after that.

I have been able to track some of the descendants of the children named in the will in addition to my own line.

There were a number of Ammon's in Virginia who could have been Christopher's father.
