Project Instruction
This collection contains name, rank, service place, and service date information for early American soldeirs found in the order book of General James Wilkinson, the 5th and 8th commanding general of the U.S. Army.

This project will have two form types. The first is the Order Page, from which we will key rank, name, service place, and service date.

The other form type is an Index Entry. Index pages which have the names of people will be keyed in the header above a dotted line. Index pages that do not have names on them will be marked as "Cover page, Section header, etc."

If a name is listed more than once in an order entry, only key it the first time. Order entries are normally either one per page, or divided by a solid line if more than one order is on a page.

Do not key ranks in the Prefix field. Ranks should be keyed in the Rank field.

Do not key "General James Wilkinson" when it appears below the dotted line on Index entry form types.
