World Archives Project: Slave Manifests Filed at New Orleans, Louisiana, 1807-1860
From Ancestry.com Wiki
About this project After a federal act in 1807 which prohibited the slave trade between the U.S. and Africa, ships of more than 40 tons which had any slaves on board intended for the slave trade were required to make out a manifest describing the slaves which they were transporting.
This project compiles Slave Manifests from ships bound for New Orleans during the years 1807-1860.
It is ranked as an "Advanced" difficulty because much of the information is hand written, and it is not always in a consistent position on the page. But there is not a ton of information and the pages should not take too long to index.
