About this project This collection contains a typed compilation of records concerning those Scots that came and lived in the West Indies during the 1707-1857. It includes emigration records, birth, marriage, and death records, as well as other miscellanoeous events that occured during an individual's life.

Surname

Key the Surname using the dictionary provided for assistance. If the surname does not appear in the dictionary then key the surname as seen.

Key any titles before the Given name, such as "Dr", "Rev", "Mr" or "Mrs", using a dictionary if provided for assistance. If a prefix does not appear in a dictionary then key the prefix as seen.

Key the first name or initial and any middle names of the primary person to whom the record pertains using the dictionary provided for assistance. If a name does not appear in the dictionary then key the name as seen.

Key all titles, such as "Jr" or "III", following the surname of the primary person to whom the record applies using a dictionary if provided for assistance. If a suffix does not appear in a dictionary then key the suffix as seen.

Key the birth day from the birth date.All date will appear in day/month/year format. A date that appears as 10.6.1753 should be keyed as 10 Jun 1753. If a date appears as simply 12.1753 the first number is indicating the month, and should be keyed as Dec 1753.
