About this project
This collection contains a typed compilation of records concerning those Scots that came and lived in the West Indies during the 1707-1857. It includes emigration records, birth, marriage, and death records, as well as other miscellanoeous events that occured during an individual's life.

This collection contains a typed compilation of records taken from Scottish newspapers, archive collections, and other sources, concerning those Scots that came and lived in the West Indies during the 1707-1857. It includes emigration, birth, marriage, and death information, as well as other miscellaneous events that occurred during an individual's life.
From these records we are keying name, vital information, parents' name, residence place and date, as well as arrival year and location. Records contain only what information was available on the individual, so all records will not contain all fields. Records must be read to extract the information available.

Surname
Key the surname as seen on the record using the dictionary provided to assist you.
Prefix
Key any titles before the given name, such as "Dr", "Rev", "Mr" or "Mrs" as seen on the record using the dictionary provided to assist you.
Given
Key the first name or initial and any middle names of the primary person to whom the record pertains as seen on the record using the dictionary provided to assist you.
Suffix
Key all titles, such as "Jr" or "III", following the surname of the primary person to whom the record applies as seen on the record using the dictionary provided to assist you.
Birth Day
Key the birth day from the birth date.
All dates will be in day-month-year format. A date that appears as 10.6.1753 should be keyed as 10 Jun 1753. If a date appears as simply 12.1753 the first number is indicating the month, and should be keyed as Dec 1753.
Birth Month
Key the birth month in its three-letter abbreviation from the birth dayte using the dictionary provided to assist you.
