Project Instructions
This collection contains the schedules of the Special Census of the Indians from 1880. Each family was recorded on a separate census sheet. The special census also documented other information, such as where the family lived and what tribe they belonged to, on a separate title page.
From the title page we are keying the sheet number, enumeration district, household number, and tribe. Information such as the reservation and Indian agency will be added in post production work.
From the census page we will be keying the Indian name, other name commonly used, relationship, marital status, gender, and age. Marital status will be determined by whether there is a check mark in the "Is this person single?" or "Is this person married?" column.
